Healthy Tacos

Give a classic Mexican dish a healthy makeover. Low on calories, yet filling and packed with flavour, this taco recipe is the perfect meal for two.

Ingredients (4 tacos, serves 2)

  • Lean beef steak mince 5% fat – 250g
  • Thick and chunky salsa sauce – 226g (1 jar)
  • Taco spice mix – 15g
  • 1/4 of a large onion
  • Sweet gem lettuce – 4 leaves
  • Peppers – 100g
  • Baby button mushrooms – 50g
  • Light feta cheese – 50g
  • Coconut oil – 5g
  • Avacado – 75g
  • Baby plum tomatoes – 15g


Pre heat a pan with coconut oil and cook steak mince for approximately 5 minutes. Chop mushrooms, peppers and onion and add to pan when needed.

When nearly cooked stir in taco spice mix and salsa sauce. Turn down the heat and simmer for around 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare lettuce wraps in a bowl, chop tomatoes and mix with avacado for guacamole topping, then crumble your cheese.

Add meat to your wraps and top with guacamole and feta cheese.
